Short Stories for High School

In this multi-day class learners will read a variety of classic short stories with a view to understanding the elements of plot, figurative language, symbolism and more. Each week students will use story questions to dig deep into the meaning of the story. They will have an opportunity to do some other creative writing activities to help them analyze how authors use literary elements to communicate meaning. Classes will incorporate class discussion, teacher presentations, in-class exercises and pair work (depending on class size). Each week will feature a short story along with discussion questions and other related activities. Class will meet twice a week for four weeks.
